WOPLAH 2023 End of Year Update

WOPLAH has been hard at work the last few months of 2023 and is excited to welcome 2024, celebrate the New Year and continue to work on their many extensive community projects.

In December, WOPLAH worked hard to communicate their programs and goals with their community and partners. This element of communication has had far reaching influence including measuring the impacts of different projects in the community, increasing sustainable engagement and providing important information regarding improving economic growth on both individual and household scales.

In previous months, WOPLAH also worked on projects to support community led case management for Malaria. With millions of Malaria cases each year in Kenya, WOPLAH’s educational sessions and outreach are critical components to help decrease the harm and prevalence of the disease in the community. WOPLAH has been leading social behavior change sessions in the community and have also followed community health promoters to encourage and implement at-home identification testing and treatment. In the video shown WOPLAH leaders and community members are chanting “Zero malaria starts with me, zero malaria starts with you, zero malaria starts with all of us.”

WOPLAH was also awarded a trophy for their work in farming in the west Kenyan county of Kakamega. Food production and accessibility are very important. WOPLAH’s work in these areas have helped alleviate stigma surrounding these issues in the community.

Thanks for supporting WOPLAH. Check back throughout the New Year for more updates on WOPLAH’s work.
