New Mushroom Crop Planted!
Mushroom Compost Being Prepared
Exciting news from the WOPLAH Director’s Compound! After harvesting their first batch of mushrooms last year and putting the profits towards paying the school fees of children affected by HIV/AIDS, WOPLAH, and their partners have fundraised enough to support a new crop of mushrooms!
This week marks the beginning of the second crop of oyster mushrooms that WOPLAH has planted. WOPLAH intends to divide the profits from this crop of mushrooms, with part of the profits going back into the community and the other part going towards purchasing the next round of mushroom spores in order to create a sustainable mushroom farming initiative. The mushrooms grown by WOPLAH are sold to community members in order to support a nutritious and balanced diet, which is especially important for people living with HIV. The profits go to supporting early childhood education initiatives.
